What Is the Orthoscan Locking Swivel Caster (450-0011)?

Product: Orthoscan Swivel Caster, Locking

Part Number: 450-0011

The Orthoscan Locking Swivel Caster (450-0011) is the locking swivel wheel assembly used on the Orthoscan HD, FD, FD-OR, and FD Pulse mini C-arms. The swivel caster allows the system to maneuver freely in any direction during transport and repositioning, while the locking mechanism engages to hold the system stationary during clinical use — preventing the workstation from rolling during imaging procedures. Mini C-arms are moved frequently throughout the clinical day and the casters are subject to wear, cracking, flat spots, and locking mechanism failure over time. Replacement is indicated when the caster no longer rolls smoothly, when the locking mechanism does not hold reliably, when the wheel is visibly damaged or has developed a flat spot, or during full cosmetic refurbishment prior to resale or redeployment. A damaged or non-locking caster can present a safety concern during clinical use and should be replaced promptly. Also available: the front swivel caster (450-0011) for the front two casters.

Compatible Systems

Part 450-0011 is compatible with the Orthoscan HD, FD, FD-OR, and FD Pulse only. The Orthoscan UC and MDI use different caster configurations. Call (800) 643-2998 with your serial number to confirm fit before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the signs that a caster needs to be replaced?+
Common signs include a caster that no longer rolls smoothly or has developed a flat spot that causes the unit to bump or drag during transport, a locking mechanism that does not hold reliably and allows the system to roll during clinical use, visible cracking or damage to the wheel housing, and excessive noise or resistance during normal movement. A non-locking or damaged caster should be replaced promptly as it can present a safety concern during clinical use.
How many locking casters does the Orthoscan have?+
The Orthoscan HD, FD, FD-OR, and FD Pulse each use four casters on the base of the workstation column. These machines have two locking casters and two non-locking casters; call (800) 643-2998 with your serial number and our team will confirm the configuration for your specific unit and how many of part 450-0011 you need.
Can Minicarm.com install this part for me?+
Yes. Our certified field service engineers are available nationwide for on-site installation and repair. Call (800) 643-2998 or visit minicarm.com/service to schedule.
