What Is the Orthoscan Image Intensifier Power Supply Cable Assembly (920-0015)?

Product: Orthoscan Cable Assembly, PWR Input, II PWR Sup, 6" & 4" Mode Switch

Part Number: 920-0015

The Orthoscan Image Intensifier Power Supply Cable Assembly (920-0015) is a combination power and control cable harness for the Orthoscan UC and HD Mini C-Arms. The "II PWR Sup" designation refers to the Image Intensifier Power Supply — the UC and HD were image-intensifier-based systems, using a vacuum tube image intensifier rather than the flat-panel detectors found in later Orthoscan generations. This cable assembly carries the power input to that image intensifier power supply, and also integrates the mode switch connections for the 6-inch and 4-inch field-of-view selections. The 6" and 4" modes refer to the two magnification fields available on the II: the 6-inch standard field and the 4-inch electronically magnified field (equivalent to MagMode on later platforms). A failed or damaged cable can result in a completely non-functional image intensifier, loss of one or both magnification modes, or imaging failures that trace back to interrupted power to the II supply. This cable is specific to the UC and HD and is not applicable to flat-detector Orthoscan models (FD, FD-OR, FD Pulse, MDI, or TAU). Replacement should be performed by a qualified biomedical or field service engineer.

Compatible Systems

This cable applies only to image-intensifier-based Orthoscan platforms (UC and HD). It is not compatible with flat-detector models including the FD, FD-OR, FD Pulse, MDI, TAU 1512, TAU 1515, or TAU 2020. Frequently Asked Questions

What does "II PWR Sup" mean?+
"II PWR Sup" stands for Image Intensifier Power Supply. The Orthoscan UC and HD used a vacuum tube image intensifier to convert x-ray to visible light before the image was captured by a camera — unlike later flat-detector Orthoscan models which digitize the x-ray signal directly. The image intensifier required its own dedicated power supply, and this cable assembly delivers power input to that supply while also integrating the 6-inch and 4-inch magnification mode switch connections.
What are the 6" and 4" modes on the UC and HD?+
The 6-inch and 4-inch modes refer to the two available field-of-view sizes on the image intensifier. The 6-inch mode provides the standard full field, while the 4-inch mode electronically magnifies the image by using only the central portion of the intensifier — equivalent to the MagMode function on later flat-detector Orthoscan platforms. This cable assembly includes the mode switch wiring that controls the selection between these two fields.
